hp Officejet 5252 service station stalled

recently changed the ink on my officejet 5252 and the screen has been saying "Service station stalled" ever since... every time I hit OK, it goes right back to the same message after a couple seconds

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing service station stalled issues with the HP OfficeJet 5252 All-In-One Printer.  

I have a few recommendations 

• The service station sits under the cartridges and has a moving tray in it. If any debris has dropped into the service station it can prevent proper movement. The printhead may not be affected by that and will appear to move normally.
• Remove and reinstall the ink cartridges
• Try a firmware update: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168
