Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just moved and changed the modem.

Nothing other than test pages will print. I have done everything the hp support virtual agent has to say twice. No error message. The queue status ends with; error - printing.

Welcome to HP support community.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to fix the issue.

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  1. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.

  2. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.

    • If your printer in not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.

    • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  3. If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.

  4. If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

  5. Try to print.

I must have done this several times already.

It seems that I gave up after uninstalling everything the other day. Including the driver from the device manager. I just ran HP Smart utilities & tools for connecting my existing printer to my wireless network, which led to manually installing the printer driver, which will not install.

Under printers in the device manager it says "Device Unknown". Searching online for drivers results in the following message.

"Update drivers - Unknown device

Windows encountered a problem installing the drivers for your device

Windows found drivers for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install them.

HP DJ 2600 PCL-3

An error occured during the installation of the device:

The driver cannot be installed because it is either not digitally signed or not signed in the appropriate manner. Contact your hardware vendor..."

Try these steps -

1. In the search box, type and open "Uninstall a Program".

2. Look for HP Printer software.

3. Right-click to uninstall.

4. In the search box, type and open “Devices and printers”.

5. In the Devices and Printers, look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose “Delete” or “Remove Device”.

6. Open the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7. Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”).

8. Click on the "Drivers" tab.

9. Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click “Remove” at the bottom.

10. Select Ok.

11. Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows.

12. Close Devices and Printers Once the software and drivers are removed.

13. Restart the computer.

Try adding the printer using IP address -

1.) Select “Start” and type “printers” in the search box.

2.) Choose “Printers & scanners“.

3.) Select “Add a printer or scanner“.

4.) Wait for the “The printer that I want isn’t listed” option to appear, then select it.

5.) Select “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname” , then select “Next“.

6.) Select “TCP/IP Device” in the “Device type” list.

7.) Type the hostname or the IP address of the printer. Select “Next“. To find the IP address of the printer, touch the Wi-Fi icon on the printer's control panel.

8.) Windows should find the printer if the printer is on and configured correctly. You may have to specify more information. If prompted, Select the type of network adapter installed in the printer in the “Device Type” drop-down list. You can also click “Custom” to specify custom settings for the network printer. Select “Next“.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I am not sure what you mean by printer control panel. I have HP Smart running, can't find a wifi symbol on there. Touching the wifi symbol button on the printer does not find the IP address of the printer. What is a host name or a ip address for a printer?
