@dwayneh66, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP DeskJet 6940 Printing Issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Your HP DeskJet 6940 printer seems to be executing unwanted print jobs and has a flashing power button, which indicates a potential issue with the device. Here's how you can troubleshoot and resolve this:

Check for Stuck Print Jobs:

  • Open the print queue on your computer to see if any jobs are stuck or are repeatedly sent to the printer.
  • Cancel any jobs in the queue that are incomplete or that seem unfamiliar.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source.
  • Wait about 30 seconds before reconnecting it and powering it back on.

Clear Print Spooler:

  • On Windows, go to ‘Services’ and find the ‘Print Spooler’ service.
  • Stop the service, wait a moment, and then restart it. This can help clear print jobs that are stuck.

Disconnect Network Connection:

  • If your printer is connected to a network, disconnect it temporarily to see if the messages persist. This might help determine if network printing commands are causing the issue.

Firmware Update:

  • Check if there is any firmware update available for your printer by visiting the HP support website. Updating the firmware can resolve unexpected issues.

Reset the Printer:

  • Perform a factory reset of the printer. This usually involves holding down certain buttons on the printer, which can be found in the user manual or by checking online resources specific to the HP DeskJet 6940.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
