hp envy 6032e wont hold wifi signal therefore I have purchased usb cable and successfully printed from macbook with this for some weeks. The printer is mechanically sounds jsut wont hold wifi signal and after a year of re-connecting the wifi every day (plus moving the printer next to the router) i gave up and decided to print via cable.
I was on instant ink subscription - this now cancelled, own cartridges installed and instant ink cartridges returned. Ive had confirmation that subscription has ended. Today printer will no longer print: flashing info button prints info: "HP+ printers must be connected to the internet".
I know you can print via cable without wifi .. been doing it for two weeks! FAst losing the will to live here can anyone help? (ive done the whole plug unplug restart scenario) I HATE this printer!!

Hi @Shirley777,
You're very welcome! The term "native print function" refers to using the built-in printing capabilities of your printer without relying on external apps or software.
It usually means directly interacting with your printer's control panel, settings, or operating system's built-in print dialogue rather than third-party tools like the HP Smart app or specialized drivers.
example:
- On the Printer Itself: If your printer has a touchscreen or physical buttons, you might select options like "Print Photos" or "Print Documents" directly on the device using a connected USB drive or memory card.
- From Your Computer: When you print a document or photo, you're using the operating system's default print dialog (e.g., Windows or macOS Print options) to send the job directly to the printer without extra settings from other software.
- From Mobile Devices: Sending a print job via AirPrint (iOS) or Mopria (Android) also uses the "native" printing functions of the printer and operating system.

Hi @Shirley777,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I understand you are unable to connect the printer to the computer.
Let's try the below steps to see if that helps -
1.) Remove All Barriers: Certain building materials can get in the way of weaker signals like Bluetooth. Metal, bulletproof glass, concrete, and plaster are particularly bad, and marble, plaster and brick aren’t great easy. So if you’re really struggling with interference, your first step should be to move your Bluetooth devices away from these materials. That means no brick walls between you and your devices, and definitely no metal desks!
2.) Change Router Channel: If you have an Apple router and you’re constantly getting interference with your WiFi, try rebooting it. Upon restart, the station will search for a new channel. Specifically, a different channel than the one your Bluetooth devices is using to communicate. If you don’t have an Apple router, you may need to instead go into your router settings and try changing the channel manually. Experiment with different channels to see which one works best.
3.) Move Closer to Your Router: If you often find that you’re getting interference when talking on a wireless headset while on a WiFi call (you’ll know because you’ll hear static), try moving closer to your router. This will give you a more robust WiFi connection, so the Bluetooth frequency can’t overpower it.
4.) Get Away From Microwaves and Fluorescent Lighting: Both emit frequencies of 2.4GHz, and moving away from them will distance you from the source.
I'd like to know the following to isolate the issue further-
1.) Are the printer and Mac connected to the same network?
2.) Is your router dual-band enabled i.e., both 2.4GHz and 5GHz? If yes, make sure the dual band has different SSIDs for 2.4G and 5G networks.
3.) What is the distance between the router and the printer?
4.) Is there an antivirus software installed on your Mac?
5.) Could you perform a ping test and let me know the results? Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by selecting the wireless icon on the printer display.
Perform a ping test to check the connectivity
- Click Applications > Utilities > Terminal.
type ping "IP address" and press enter
Wait until 10 pings have been performed and then press ctrl c on the keyboard and hit return.
The results will appear .
Share the ping test results.
The wireless status menu on your Mac should also give us quite a lot of information that would help us identify the issue. You can press and hold option-click the WiFi icon and then use shift-command-5 to take the screenshot. Press the space bar when the icon turns into a camera. Share the ping test results and the screenshot with us.
Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'. Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records. The software comes built-in with Apple's macOS operating systems.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Many thanks for your detailed information on attempting to get wifi to work. I am not asking for help with wifi / internet:
As per my post: there is ZERO distance or interference between the router, printer and macbook - I had already relocated all 3 to sit on the same desk, the printer will STILL NOT maintain a wifi signal; it will connect and drop after a short period of time. I have also spent many hours on many days with hp (while i had instant ink subscription) to resolve the issue via the tests you mention. The printer would always re-conect and then disconnect. This has been the same, daily for over a year. I no longer have time to be going through this process constantly. The printer WILL NOT HOLD WIFI.
I have ended instant ink subscription.
I have replaced instant ink cartridges with own purchased cartridges.
I have purchased usb cable, succesfully located printer via usb cable, and successfully printed via usb cable for some weeks.
The printer will no longer print via usb cable and gives error message via flashing info button: "HP+ printer must be connected to the internet.
I do not wish to attempt to connect to the internet (see above explanation!), I wish to print WITHOUT internet / wifi, via USB cable.
Can anybody help with how to bypass the error message and print via USB cable WITHOUT internet and wifi please?

Hi @Shirley777,
I am sorry. To print via USB cable on your HP ENVY 6032e printer without needing the internet or Wi-Fi, you can follow these steps:
Ensure the Printer is Connected via USB
- Connect the printer directly to your computer using a USB cable.
- Ensure the connection is secure and the printer is powered on.
Turn Off Wi-Fi Features
- On the printer control panel, disable Wi-Fi or disconnect the printer from any network.
- This will prevent the printer from attempting to use Wi-Fi for communication.
Bypass HP Smart Setup (If Needed)
- HP printers with the HP Smart App might require internet during initial setup. If you're seeing an error message about internet or Wi-Fi:
- Disconnect the USB cable temporarily.
- Restart the setup process, skipping any prompts related to Wi-Fi or internet.
- Reconnect the USB cable when prompted or after the setup completes.
Use Your Computer's Native Print Function
- Once the printer is installed, open a document on your computer.
- Use Ctrl + P (Windows) or Cmd + P (Mac) to open the print menu.
- Select the HP ENVY 6032e from the list of available printers and proceed with printing.
- If your printer still prompts for Wi-Fi or internet, try resetting it to factory defaults and reattempt the USB setup.
- If the HP Smart app is persistent about Wi-Fi, you can opt for the "Basic Driver Only" during installation instead of the full software package.

THat is really helpful thankyou. I will attempt that when i have some time - for the moment i have dug out an old deskjet and am using that, though it isnt good quality printing and doesnt print two sided so very inconvenient! you may have jsut saved me from throwing away the perfectly good (with the exception of wifi function) envy printer!
Could you advise what "use your printers native print function means please"? i am not familiar with the term native print function.
again thankyou for your help so far
