Envy Photo 7155
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

I am trying to change the ink cartridges on my HP Envy Photo 7155.  Every time I try to open the cover, it only lifts about 1 inch and I receive a message stating "The printer cover must be closed to continue.  Check that it is completely closed."

I have searched for solutions and found a few but none have worked:

1) I tried unplugging and leaving unplugged for 30 seconds to reset the printer.  This did not fix the problem.

2) I tried seeing if the hinges were crooked  because someone else said it helped them to straighten them.  Mine do not appear to be crooked.  I wiggles a little bit, but this did not help.

Any ideas?
