Hi @markyshouse,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e printer displaying an "error state" message!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Printer Connections:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer via USB or a secure Wi-Fi connection.
  • For wireless connections, confirm that both your printer and computer are connected to the same network.

Restart Printer and Computer:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Reconnect the power cord to your printer and turn it on.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Go to the HP Support website and search for your printer model to download the latest drivers.
  • Install these drivers on your computer, which might resolve any compatibility issues.

Check for Printer Errors:

  • Look at the printer's display panel for any error messages or codes.
  • Follow any provided instructions to resolve errors (e.g., paper jam, low ink levels).

Clear Print Queue:

  • Open the print queue on your computer and cancel or remove any pending print jobs.
  • Re-attempt to print a new document.

Set Printer as Default:

  • Ensure your HP printer is set as the default printing device under "Devices and Printers" in the Windows Control Panel.

Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings:

  • Ensure that your firewall or antivirus software is not blocking the printer's communication with your computer.

I hope this helps.
