I want to know if the OfficeJet 4652 printer will print on transfer and sublimation paper?  If so, do I have to buy the sublimation ink or can I use my printer as is (will that work).  I want to print a design for a T-shirt and I don't want to waste my ink if it's not going to work.

The cases I have heard of for transferring images to ceramics generally involve using laser toner with a high iron oxide content, transferring it to the mug then firing in  a kiln.  Is this the process you are thinking of, or something else? The Officejet 4652 would not be suitable for what I am thinking.  Do you have a link for the sublimation paper?

The Officejet 4652 should work fine with T-Shirt transfer media designed for inkjet printing.  You do not need different ink.  Keep in mind the image will be reversed, you will need to print a mirror image of what you want on the T-shirt.

You will not need special inks.

Thanks for the information.  Would you happen to know if this printer would be able to print an image so that I can put it on a coffee mug?  I guess what I mean is, I read that I would need sublimation paper and a sublimation printer so that I can put an image on my coffee mug.  I am trying something new here so I needed to know if I should buy a new printer or not.

I did a search and turned up this forum.  It seems the inks in the Officejet 4652 are not compatible with the sublimation paper.

I can confirm that the inks used in the Officejet 4652 are compatible with T-Shirt transfer paper.  I have made T-Shirts using a similar printer using the HP inks. The document here describes the process for T-Shirt transfers.   "Cool Peel" is a type of transfer media that is ironed on, then peeled off when it is cool.  This type is much easier to use than the older "hot peel" media - it needed to be ironed on and peeled off while still hot.  It is easy to burn your fingers and/or smear the print with hot peel media, the cool peel media is much easier to handle.
