Hi @larryh133x,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're receiving the error message "There is a problem with the printer or ink system" on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus despite trying some troubleshooting steps, there are a few more things you can do to address the issue.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can typically find this on the HP website or through your printer's settings menu. Outdated firmware can cause issues.

Clean the Printhead Manually:

  • Sometimes, printheads can become clogged. Try manually cleaning the printhead using distilled water and a lint-free cloth. Be careful not to touch the nozzles.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Ensure there are no paper jams, foreign objects, or obstructions within the printer that may be causing the issue.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  • Press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer on.

Check for Ink Leaks:

  • Ensure there are no ink leaks within the printer. If you find any, clean it up carefully.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
