Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
Restart your Mac.
Reset the printing system:
- Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
- Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and then next to the "Use" pulldown, select the printer model (not AirPrint). Wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Try scanning from your Mac. Use Image Capture app in your Applications folder.
Click once on the scanner on the left side, then click on Show Details along the bottom. Along the right side you will see LOTS of options for scanning and saving.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

I downloaded that file and it won't even install. It just sticks at 5%
I'm on the verge of throwing this thing in the trash, I just replaced all the cartridges (original ones) and the cyan gave a cartridge error. Only by removing all cartriges and taking out and refitting the printhead could I get the error to clear.
This will be the last HP device for me!! I should have know better I used to work for HP too!

I printed something just fine and within the next 5 minutes tried to print something else and got the dreaded "the printer is not responding" message.
I tried all steps in the troubleshooting ... removing printer from list and adding back in , unplugging and re-plugging back in ... I printed a test sheet that showed the printer was connected to wifi.
This is ridiculous that one minute it would print and the next minute it would not. I have done the Troubleshooting several times now. You can bet that my next printer will not be HP. I need to print .. it is important to my work ..
Please help. Thank you..
