Hi @Elizabeth-21,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're receiving an error message stating "Unable to connect to ‘HP Color LaserJet M255dw (30CFD7)._ipps._tcp.local.’ due to an error" when trying to connect your HP Color LaserJet M255dw printer to your computer, it could be due to several reasons. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Check Printer Connection: Ensure that your HP Color LaserJet M255dw printer is properly connected to your computer and that both devices are on the same network. You can do this by checking the network settings on your printer and computer.
Restart Devices: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Try restarting both your printer and computer, and then attempt to reconnect.
Update Printer Drivers: Make sure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause connectivity issues. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website or use the HP Smart app for automatic updates.
Disable Firewall or Antivirus Software: Temporary disable any firewall or antivirus software on your computer that may be blocking the printer connection. Once disabled, try reconnecting your printer.
Reset Printer Network Settings: On your HP Color LaserJet M255dw printer, navigate to the network settings menu and perform a network reset. This will reset the printer's network settings to factory defaults. After the reset, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Check Network Configuration: Ensure that your router's network settings are configured correctly and that it supports the Bonjour protocol, which is commonly used for network printing on macOS devices.
Manually Add Printer: If you're still unable to connect to the printer automatically, try manually adding the printer to your computer by entering the printer's IP address or hostname in the printer setup wizard on your computer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
