@Liesl66, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query regarding the cartridge error; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Reset the printer

Reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.

If your printer has a rechargeable battery, remove it.

Press the power button to turn off the printer. If the printer does not turn off, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

Unplug the power cord from the power source.

Wait 60 seconds.

Connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet and to the printer.

Turn on the printer to complete the reset.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

I suggest you to follow this guide for further troubleshooting steps: HP inkjet printers - Alignment issues and errors | HP® Support
