Hi @edgemgmt,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY Photo 6255 printer is showing a false paper jam, try these steps to clear the error.

Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from the power source for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Paper Jams

  • Open the input and output trays.
  • Remove any loose or stuck paper gently.
  • Check inside the rear access door and cartridge area.
  • If you find torn bits of paper, remove them with tweezers.

Clean the Rollers

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean the paper rollers inside the printer.
  • Let them dry for a few minutes before turning the printer back on.

Reset the Printer

  • With the printer turned on, unplug it from power.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Update Firmware

  • Go to HP Support and check for firmware updates for your model.
  • Install any available updates and restart the printer.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Press and hold the Power button and the Wireless button (or Wi-Fi and Cancel buttons) for about 10-15 seconds.
  • Release the buttons and wait for the printer to restart.

Check for Sensor Issues

If the error persists and no paper is jammed, the paper jam sensor might be dirty or faulty.

  • Try gently blowing air into the paper path to clear dust.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
