Do you get the same result with copies and with printing from the computer? If all types of printing are a problem then it is a problem with the printhead. If only happens when making copies from the scanner then you have a scanner issue. Is this all colors or only black? Can you post a sample? I have seen this problem caused by things as simple as a bit of paper blocking part of the printhead, open the LEFT ( edit to correct from right) door, remove the waste ink/duplex unit and the push down on the green tab on the front side of the paper guide just above where the duplex unit was removed and examine the top of this cavity for any obstructions. Use caution to avoid touching the printhead elements. Keep in mind that the paper will have likely absorbed a lot of ink and may be very dark and not look like paper at all. A good light source is your friend here as the cavity is dark.
