@conniedyches, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP DeskJet 2852e printer is showing an "idle" status and you're unable to resolve the issue after trying various troubleshooting steps, here are some additional steps you can attempt:

Troubleshooting Steps for HP DeskJet 2852e Idle Status

Check Printer Connection: Make sure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. Verify that all cables are securely plugged in.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off your printer, computer, and any networking devices (like a router).
  • Wait a few minutes before turning them back on. This can resolve connectivity issues.

Update Printer Drivers: Make sure that you have the latest printer drivers installed. You can download drivers from the HP Support website.

Use HP Smart App: Install the HP Smart App on your smartphone or computer. Using this app, you may be able to diagnose issues and update settings that can resolve the idle status.

Check for Paper Jams: Sometimes paper jams can cause the printer to appear idle. Check for and remove any jammed paper from the input and output trays.

Printer Reset: Perform a factory reset on the printer. This will reset settings to default and can sometimes resolve glitches.

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Hold down the power button for a few seconds.
  • While holding the power button, plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Network Settings: If you are using the printer wirelessly, ensure that it is correctly connected to your Wi-Fi network. You may need to reconnect it if the network settings have changed.

Firewall Settings: Occasionally, firewall settings can block printer communication. Temporarily disable firewall software to see if this resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
