Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have an HP Deskjet 3250 thast I like very much. It takes cartridge # 564. Some time ago I purchased cartridges and Ihe black one is labeled 564 Black XL but it is the same size as the colour carttidges which is too narrow for the space given for the black catrridge. Is there more than one printer that takes this number (yes I imagine) but is there a way to adjust the space. I've tried but didn't want to break anything. I couldn't find any adjustment. I bought the extended use cartridge today; but it frustrates me that I have this opened cartridge (opened it yesterday because I didn't know it wouldn't fit).

Any suggesstions?

Millie

The "bow tie" cartridge is called the Photo cartridge, it is not interchangable with the black cartridge.

The 564 black cartridge has a pentagon on the cartridge but a circle on the box....  The Photo cartridge has a bow tie on the cartridge and a camera on the box.

Black and Photo cartridges also have different label icons:

Hi,

Are you sure your printer is an HP Deskjet 3250 ? There is a series of many HP Deskjet 3520 printers and they don't use HP 564/564XL ink cartridges.

Please note: all black ink cartriges are NOT the same and they are not exchangeable even same shape and same size. You need to use the right number for your printer

Regards.

Thanks. I wondered about the logo.

Yes that was a typo. It’s a 3520 and as another reader pointed out this one is for a photo printer same number on the cartridge but it has a bow tie picture on it
