I purchased an HP OfficeJet 6960 printer for working at home, and originally the inline images in a MS Word document printed fine on the printed document. Now the inline images on the MS Word document print larger and I cannot fix it even though nothing in the MS Word document has changed and in fact all images print larger. I reset the printer defaults with no success.
I waste ink printing and have save my printing for work on a printer images. Very frustrated with a number of issues with this printer and next time I will buy a different brand.

Other Remedies
The following is offered "FYI" and is not guaranteed to address your issue. Much depends on your version of Office, the content and methods used to create the Office document, the printer software, and the Operating System and Version (which impacts the way the File System handles the various libraries and support files).
Commentary
The issue is perhaps due to the way the images were / are placed inside the Word Document. Although all printers are different, of course, the methods used to create Word documents impact to what extent (and how) a printer (any brand) is able to translate the data in the document.
After you have tried other "fixes", try / consider:

Reference document:
Verify / Adjust the method used to add the image to the Word Document
Choosing an Insert Method for Pictures
Partial Excerpt:
When inserting JPG images into Word documents, you should strongly consider using the Picture option from the Insert tab of the ribbon, rather than doing a simple copy and paste. The reason for this is that Word handles pictures differently when they are cut and pasted compared with when they are inserted. When they are cut and pasted they are treated as TIFF files, which are typically much larger than JPG files, even if the original photos were JPGs.
Save, Edit, and Replace the image in the Word document
If you do not already have a file copy of the screenshot / image:
Open Word document > Right-Click on the image in the Word file > Save as Picture>
Save the image to your computer as some "filename" and filetype (extension) .jpg
Example - save file / picture as Screenshot.jpg or Image1.jpg
If you wish to edit the image, do so in an appropriate software for image / photo editing
After the file is saved to your computer, Open the image file in a photo / image software appropriate for the filetype. Edit as needed.
For example, open file in
- Paint (mspaint)
or
Irfanview provides a free program that can be used for a variety of scan and print tasks, including the “Mirror” or horizontal flip function.
- Create a Restore Point (optional, recommended) > Reference: System Restore Overview
- Download the appropriate version (32bit or 64bit) of the program from the Website and install the program
- Additional information at the website, including: FAQ
Once installed, open the software > tab Help
Example help entry:
Vertical/Horizontal Flip
- Click on the Image Menu, then Vertical Flip. The image will turn upside-down. The left/right orientation will stay the same.
- Click on the Image Menu, then Horizontal Flip. The image will turn side-to-side, as in a mirror.
Note: The effect can be used on a smaller portion (rectangle selection) of an image, as well as the entire image.

When printing a M/Soft Word document containing an image on the Envy 5640, the image prints
oversized, but works perfectly on an Epson printer.
In Control Panel, Right-click the HP printer, select Printing Preferences, Select Layout tab,
Click Advanced, Change HP Real Life Technologies to Off
