Laserjet Pro MFP M426fdw

so, as many others, my company has also experienced this issue:
our Laserjet Pro MFP M426FDW Printer keeps printing out the following pages:

Content-Length: 179
Content-type: application/ipp
Host: Localhost
~Smileys: attributes-charset~smiley~utf-8Htrribute-natural-language~smiley~enprinter-uriLipp

our attempts at testing and solving:
Clearing printer queue in windows and restarting print spooler service
Switching devices, it does this over all 3 devices we tested  it on. one was an HP Pavillion 16, another a Dell Latitude E6430, another was a newer Dell laptop with ryzen 5000. all on the latest update of WIndows 10 x64
Adding a dock
factory reset the printer by holding the right bottom side of the display upon booting

updating the firmware using the HP firmware tool downloaded at the support page

nothing has helped. even after all this it still prints these error pages.

what can we do?
EDIT: we forgot step 1. check your cables. we switched the cables, and it seems to be working now..
i dont exactly know how,but hey a win is a win i guess
