hp5520   prints every other type line light and dark

Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

1. Check the Ink Levels

  • On the printer’s display, go to Settings > Tools > Estimated Ink Levels.
  • Replace any low or empty cartridges with genuine HP cartridges.

2. Run a Printhead Cleaning

  • On the printer's display, navigate to Settings > Tools > Clean Printhead.
  • Print a test page to check if the issue persists. You might need to run the cleaning process multiple times.

3. Align the Printhead

  • Navigate to Settings > Tools > Align Printer.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions and print an alignment page. This ensures proper ink distribution.

4. Print a Diagnostic Page

  • Navigate to Settings > Tools > Print Quality Report.
  • Look for inconsistencies in the diagnostic page, such as faded areas or streaks. This can help pinpoint whether the problem lies with the cartridges or the printhead.

5. Update or Reinstall the Printer Driver

  • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your HP Photosmart 5520.
  • Uninstall the current driver:
    • On your Windows computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
