@dav1650

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • How is the printer connected to the device USB or wireless?
  • Check for any jam in the printer.
  • Make sure the carriage is moving freely.

Meanwhile, I suggest you do a Hard Reset on the printer

  • (1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
  • (2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  • (3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • (4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • (5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • (6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
  • (7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  • (8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

After resetting the printer and searching for what the error code means I finally found the problem to be the Linksys EA8500 router. I recycled the power on the router and the printer connected and has had no more problems. It would be great if HP provided what the error codes mean on their equipment so troubleshooting could be done easier. Apparently the error code I provided meant nothing to you so you advised the normal suggestions. Thank you for your reply. You don't seem to have access to the meaning of the error codes either which would make your suggestions more direct in solving problems. What is the use to have error codes if no one knows what they mean? Maybe you could suggest to HP it would be helpful for you to have access to them and even the consumer. Attempting hit and miss solutions is time consuming and unnecessary if the error code is pointing in the direction of the problem if it can be translated.
