Hello I am wondering if anyone can help with my issue.

Our printer will not print. We had  a "LOAD PAPER" error flashing. We have loaded paper and the error does not go away.

In troubleshooting I have checked for any paper jams. I do not see any.

I have tried to reset the printer by turning the power on, disconnecting the power cord from the printer and then disconnecting the power cord form the wall as well. This did not work.

I tried to update the firmware but it will not let me continue until the LOAD PAPER error is cleared.

Please help

Thanks in advance.

Hi @smithrd1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you've already taken some essential steps in troubleshooting the issue. However, if the "LOAD PAPER" error persists even after reloading the paper and attempting a power cycle, there are a few additional steps you can try:

Check Paper Settings:

  • Make sure the paper size and type settings on the printer match the settings in your print job and the actual paper loaded.

Check Paper Tray Guides:

  • Ensure that the paper guides in the tray are correctly positioned to hold the paper in place. Misaligned guides might lead to paper detection issues.

Inspect for Foreign Objects:

  • Double-check for any small pieces of paper or foreign objects inside the printer that might be causing a sensor to detect a paper jam.

Manually Feed Paper:

  • Try manually feeding a single sheet of paper through the manual feed slot if your printer has one. This can sometimes help clear out sensors that may be giving a false error.

Update Drivers:

  • Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your MacOS. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • HP provides a tool called "HP Print and Scan Doctor" that can automatically diagnose and resolve printing problems. You can download it from the HP website and run it to see if it identifies and fixes the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
