Hi @deskaisers ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 is printing lines that don't belong to the document, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  • Clean the Printhead: Sometimes, lines or streaks on the printouts can be caused by a dirty printhead. Most HP printers have a built-in printhead cleaning feature in the printer's settings. You can usually find this option in the printer's menu or through the printer software on your computer.
  • Check Ink Levels: Low ink levels or clogged ink nozzles can also cause printing issues. Check the ink levels on your printer and replace any cartridges that are low or empty. You can usually check ink levels through the printer's menu or through the printer software on your computer.
  • Run Printer Diagnostic Tests: Many HP printers have diagnostic tests that can help identify and fix printing issues. These tests can usually be accessed through the printer's menu or through the printer software on your computer. Run any available diagnostic tests to see if they can identify the cause of the problem.
  • Check Paper Quality: Low-quality or damaged paper can sometimes cause printing issues. Make sure you are using the correct type and size of paper for your printer, and check the paper for any damage or defects before loading it into the printer.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Outdated or corrupt printer drivers can sometimes cause printing issues. Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer. You can usually download and install driver updates from the HP website or through the printer software on your computer. Software and Drivers for HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 All-in-One Printer series
  • Reset the Printer: If none of the above steps work, you can try resetting your printer to its factory settings. This will restore the printer to its original settings and may help resolve any software or configuration issues causing the problem. You can usually find the option to reset the printer in the printer's menu or through the printer software on your computer.
