it has nothing to do with the connection, because even if i try to print a test page from the printer itself (not using my laptop) it still wont print. it says "printing" on the screen, but does nothing. and the green light on the power button blinks the whole time... please please help, its super frustrating, ive un-installed, re-installed, plugged it in, un plugged it, plugged the usb cord in before i realized it wasnt a connection problem, taken the ink out.. i dont know what else to do... again, its not a connection problem.. i tried to go into the settings on the printer itself and clicked printer status or something liek that and it attempted to print out a report, but nothing prints... again, the screen says "printing . . .  "   but nothing happens and it will continue to say "printing  . . . " w/ the moving dots for hours... what could this be??  ive searched online and cant find anything that sounds liek this.. seems like everyone has connection probelms... but i need help!

This sounds like it may be a firmware problem.  The first thing to do is check to see if there are any available firmware update.  I'll include a link to those instructions below.  Next, make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet.  Plugging the printer into a surge protector, power strip, or power backup can cause it to become under powered resulting in strange problems like this one.  If the firmware is up to date and plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet doesn't help, follow the steps in the document below.  If that doesn't help, you will need to replace the printer.  Hope this helps.

well i checked for updates and it says that it is currently up to date.. and it is plugged directly into the wall.. i unplugged it and plugged it back in... i know thats not the issue.. so basically its junk?  the printer isnt even a year old, how does this happen?????    ive always bought cheap $30 printers, and I decide to upgrade to a more expensive one and it craps the bed in less then a year??  i dont understand how this happens, its not like anything was done to make it not work,  it worked fine one day and not the next?  shouldnt HP be responsible for fixing it?

If it's the same problem it was in fixable.. I had to get a new one.. Everything that was attempted to fix it didn't work and they basically said I was out of luck

I have the same issue with this printer. Didn't work for even 1 year. Tried installing all up to date s/w, but no use. I think they have sold junk printers to everyone. In my experience, every HP consumer product (had issue with HP laptop also) is like this. Stopped buying any HP product.

I have the same problem: HP Deskjet 3050 J610 series says it's printing on the screen but does nothing.

@zoho

A very warm welcome to the HP community. A very good day to you.

I came across your post and would like to help. I read that you have an HP Deskjet 3050A e-All-in-One Printer - J611g and it says printing on the screen, but nothing prints on the sheet of paper.

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • What operating system are you using?
  • Is the printer able to make a copy? If yes then it indicates that the printer's hardware is fine.
  • Did any software changes or updates happen for your printer?

Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
  • Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

If you're using Windows then please download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor software. This is a free tool for Windows to help resolve issues with the printer drivers.

Now, you may try to print from multiple applications and check if the printer is able to successfully able to print.

Finally, if the issue persists, I suggest you to uninstall the printer drivers from the root level and then reinstall them. The following steps should help:

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • You may download and install the drivers from this link: www.123.hp.com

For Mac, please reset the printing system in Mac and then try to print.

I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Let me know how it goes. Cheers! 🙂
