Hi @joeandaudrey,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Error 6 on the HP Envy 6500e!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Connection:

  • Ensure your printer is properly connected to your computer or network. Check the USB cable or wireless connection and restart your router if necessary.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source for a couple of minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can often clear temporary errors.

Clear Print Queue:

  • On your computer, cancel all print jobs in the queue. Sometimes a large or corrupted file can cause errors.

Update Firmware and Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support website and check for any available firmware updates or driver downloads for your model. Install any updates and restart your printer.

Conduct a Hard Reset:

  • With the printer still on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet. Wait for about a minute before plugging it back in. This can reset internal hardware.

Check for Paper Jam or Debris:

  • Inspect the printer for any paper jams or debris. Carefully remove any you find, as these can cause operational issues.

Inspect Cartridge Access Door:

  • Ensure the cartridge access door is completely closed. If it’s partially open, it can cause error codes.

I hope this helps.
