Hi @Shon50

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m really sorry this is happening—especially when you just want to print and everything seems stuck. When your HP printer keeps going offline and a print job won’t delete, it usually means the print spooler is jammed or the connection between your device and the printer has broken down.

Let’s walk through how to clear the queue and bring your printer back online.

Step-by-step actions to fix offline printer and stuck print job

Cancel the print job manually

  • Press Windows + R, type control printers, and press Enter
  • Right-click your HP printer > See what’s printing
  • Right-click the stuck job > Cancel
  • If it won’t cancel, continue to the next step

Restart the Print Spooler service

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter
  • Scroll to Print Spooler, right-click > Stop
  • Open File Explorer and go to:
    C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
  • Delete all files in this folder (they are the stuck print jobs)
  • Go back to services.msc, right-click Print Spooler > Start

Set the printer to online mode

  • Go back to Devices and Printers
  • Right-click your HP printer > See what’s printing
  • Click Printer in the top menu and uncheck Use Printer Offline if it’s selected

Power cycle the printer and router

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall
  • Restart your router
  • Wait 60 seconds, then plug the printer back in and turn it on

Re-add the printer using the HP App

  • Open the HP App on your PC or phone
  • Remove the printer if it’s listed as offline
  • Tap Add Printer, wait for it to appear, and follow the setup steps

This guide includes illustrations and model-specific steps for restoring connectivity.

Let me know your printer model if you’d like help with specific driver or wireless settings. You’ve done everything right by acting quickly, and we’ll make sure your printer is back online and ready to go.
