Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting the "there is a problem with the printer or ink system" error, I am glad to assist you to fix the issue.

We recommend you to use HP genuine HP ink cartridges because this printer is not tested with non-HP cartridges and we can not guaranty the functionality of the printer.

However, try these steps to fix the issue.

Remove and reinsert the ink cartridges to make sure the cartridges are seated properly in the carriage.

  1. Turn on the printer, and then open the door or lid to the cartridge access area.

  2. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you continue.

  3. Push the ink cartridge to remove it, and then push it into its slot until it snaps into place.

    Removing and reinserting the cartridge

  4. Repeat these steps to remove and reinsert the other cartridges.

  5. Close the door or lid to the cartridge access area.

Update the printer firmware to install the latest updates
