Hi @asifsyed123 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP DeskJet 2742e printer showing an "i" on the screen and being in offline status is likely related to a connectivity or configuration problem. Here are some steps to help you diagnose and fix the issue:

Step 1: Check Printer Connection

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check Wireless Connection:

  • Ensure that the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network. On the printer's control panel, go to the wireless settings and verify the connection.

Reconnect to Wi-Fi:

  • If the connection is lost, you might need to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network. Use the HP Smart app or the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) method to reconnect the printer.

Step 2: Ensure the Printer is Online

  1. Set Printer Online:
    • On your Windows 11 computer, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
    • Select your HP DeskJet 2742e printer from the list.
    • Click on Open queue.
    • In the printer queue window, go to Printer > Use Printer Offline and make sure it is unchecked.

Step 3: Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers HP DeskJet 2742e All-in-One Printer Software

Update Drivers:

  • Download and install the latest drivers for your HP DeskJet 2742e from the HP Support website.

Reinstall Printer:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Select your HP DeskJet 2742e printer and click Remove device.
  • After removing, restart your computer.
  • Re-add the printer by clicking Add a printer or scanner and follow the instructions.

Step 4: Run HP Print and Scan Doctor HP Print and Scan Doctor

  1. Download and Run Tool:
    • Download and install the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP website.
    • Run the tool to diagnose and fix any issues with the printer.

Step 5: Check Printer Status and Error Messages

Printer Error Code:

  • The "i" symbol on your printer might indicate a specific error. Refer to the printer's user manual or visit the HP support page to find more information about the error code.

Clear Print Queue:

  • Sometimes, print jobs stuck in the queue can cause the printer to go offline. Open the printer queue and cancel all documents.

Step 6: Perform a Printer Reset

  1. Reset Printer:
    • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
    • Wait at least 60 seconds.
    • Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and then to the printer.
    • Turn on the printer if it does not turn on automatically.
