Hi @MaryNemeth,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're experiencing with your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw printing pages with "attributes-charset utf-8" and "attributes-natural-language" is likely due to corrupted print jobs or a miscommunication between your printer and computer. Here are some steps to help resolve this problem.

Cancel All Print Jobs

  • Go to your printer queue and cancel all print jobs.
  • On Windows:
    • Open the Control Panel.
    • Go to Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click your printer and select See what's printing.
    • Cancel all print jobs.
  • On Mac:
    • Go to System Preferences.
    • Click on Printers & Scanners.
    • Select your printer and click Open Print Queue.
    • Cancel all print jobs.

Restart Printer and Computer

  • Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart your computer.

Clear Print Spooler (Windows)

  • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
  • Type services.msc and press Enter.
  • Find the Print Spooler service, right-click it, and select Stop.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files in this folder.
  • Go back to the Print Spooler service, right-click it, and select Start.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Check for any firmware updates for your printer on the HP support website.
  • Download and install any available updates.

Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Uninstall the printer drivers from your computer.
  • Go to the HP support website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
  • Install the new drivers.

Check for Malware

  • Ensure your computer is not infected with malware that might be sending corrupted print jobs.
  • Run a full system scan using your antivirus software.

Factory Reset the Printer

  • If the issue persists, you might need to perform a factory reset on your printer. This will reset all settings to their default state.
    • Navigate to the printer's Setup menu.
    • Select Service.
    • Choose Restore Defaults.

Verify Printer Settings

  • Make sure the printer is not set to automatically print a test page or report.
  • Navigate through the printer's menu to check and disable any such settings.

Disconnect and Reconnect Printer

  • Remove the printer from your computer's list of devices.
  • Reconnect it and set it up as a new device.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
