Hi @gareth5275,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how concerning it must be to see all the lights on your HP 2700e printer along with an "E" error. Let's first check the basics to understand what's happening.
Quick Questions to Clarify the Issue:
- Are any buttons responding when you press them? (Power, Cancel, Resume, etc.)
- Does the error code change when you try pressing any button?
- Is there any paper jammed inside the printer?
Troubleshooting Steps:
1. Perform a Hard Reset (Power Drain)
- With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Unplug the cord from the wall outlet and wait for 60 seconds.
- Press and hold the Power button for 20 seconds (while unplugged).
- Plug the power cord directly into a wall socket (not a surge protector).
- Turn the printer back on and check if the issue persists.
2. Check for a Paper Jam
- Open the front access door and remove any stuck paper.
- Open the rear access door (if applicable) and check inside.
- Gently move the ink carriage left and right to ensure it's not stuck.
3. Check the Ink Cartridges
- Open the cartridge access door and remove both ink cartridges.
- Clean the cartridge contacts with a dry lint-free cloth.
- Reinstall the cartridges and close the door properly.
4. Check for a Specific Error Code
- If the error "E" is still displayed, check if there are blinking lights on specific buttons (Wi-Fi, Ink, Paper).
- If you see a pattern, let me know so we can identify the exact issue.
If none of the buttons respond and the printer remains stuck, there could be a hardware issue. Let me know what happens after these steps!
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
