HP Envy 6155e All-in-One Printer

My new 6155e does not offer double sided printing from dialog screens; it will print double sided from my phone but not the computer - no option to do so. I am almost ready to return to the store.

Hi @oregonian2

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds frustrating when a key feature like double-sided printing isn't working as expected.

Let's troubleshoot this step by step to get your HP Envy 6155e printing double-sided from your computer:

Step 1: Check Printer Settings

  1. Open the Control Panel on your computer and go to Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click on your HP Envy 6155e and select Printer Properties.
  3. Navigate to the Device Settings tab.
  4. Look for an option like Duplex Unit or Double-sided Printing and ensure it is set to Installed.
  5. Click OK and restart your computer.

Step 2: Verify Print Preferences

  1. Open a document and press Ctrl + P to access the print dialog.
  2. Select your HP Envy 6155e printer.
  3. Click on Printer Properties or Preferences.
  4. Look for a setting like Print on Both Sides or Duplex Printing and enable it.
  5. Save the settings and try printing.

Step 3: Update Printer Drivers

  1. Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model.
  2. Download and install the latest full-feature driver for your printer.
  3. During installation, ensure that duplex printing is enabled.

Step 4: Reset Printer Settings

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for about 2 minutes and then plug it back in.
  3. Reconnect the printer to your computer and check if the double-sided printing option appears.

Step 5: Test with HP Smart App

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your computer.
  2. Check if the double-sided printing option is available within the app.
  3. If it works from the app, the issue might be with the printer driver or software settings.

Thanks for your assistance. However, I had done all that, but my issue is that there is no option available under Settings or under Properties for double side or duplex printing. It just isn't available from my laptop (Windows 11).

Hi @oregonian2

Thanks for troubleshooting. I appreciate all your efforts!!

It seems like the duplex printing option is missing entirely from your laptop settings, which can happen due to driver or software limitations.

Here are some additional steps to address this:

Verify Driver Installation:

  • Ensure you’ve installed the full-feature driver for your HP Envy 6155e from the HP Support page.
  • The basic driver might not include duplex printing functionality, so reinstalling the full-feature driver could resolve the issue.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
  • Install any pending updates, as they often include fixes for compatibility issues.

Enable Duplex Printing in Printer Properties:

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your HP Envy 6155e and select Printer Properties.
  • Look for a setting called Duplex Unit or Double-sided Printing under the Device Settings tab. If it’s not visible, the driver may need updating.

Use HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app and check if duplex printing is available as an option within the app.
  • If it works from your phone, the app might provide a workaround for your laptop.

Let me know how it goes or if you need further guidance! 😊

BTW, in addition, no printer settings on the HP Smart app seem to provide option for double sided/duplex printing.
