Hi @omaralattar,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M183fw is requesting a password for accessing or modifying certain settings. This can happen if a default password is set, or if someone has set a password without your knowledge.

Here are a few steps you can take to resolve the issue:

Try Default Passwords:

  • For some HP printers, the default password might be "admin" or "12345678".
  • If your printer has a sticker with login details, use those credentials.

Reset the Printer to Factory Settings:

  • Resetting the printer to factory settings can remove any passwords that have been set. Here’s how to do it:
    1. Turn off the printer.
    2. Press and hold the Resume button (or Cancel button) while turning on the printer.
    3. Keep holding the Resume button until the Ready light starts flashing.
    4. Release the Resume button. The printer should now reset to factory settings.

Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • If you know the printer's IP address, you can access its Embedded Web Server using a web browser:
    1. Enter the IP address of the printer into the web browser.
    2. Log in using the default credentials if prompted.
    3. Navigate to the Security or Admin section to reset or change the password.

HP Smart App:

  • Use the HP Smart app on your Windows 11 computer to manage the printer settings.
  • Open the HP Smart app, select your printer, and navigate to the printer settings to reset the password.

Regarding the issue of the printer printing different documents than the ones you intended, it could be due to a queue or miscommunication between your computer and printer. Here’s what you can do:

Clear the Print Queue:

  • Open the Printers & Scanners settings in Windows 11.
  • Select your printer and click on Open queue.
  • Cancel all documents in the queue.

Restart the Print Spooler Service:

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Find the Print Spooler service, right-click on it, and select Restart.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure you have the latest drivers for your printer. Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest drivers for your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M183fw.

Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Sometimes firmware updates can resolve such issues. Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP Support website.

Reset Printer Settings:

  • Reset the printer settings to default and reconfigure the printer settings.

Refer to this document: HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M183fw User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
