There is no message from the printer. The control panel states the printer is in an error mode. This occurs after every document printed despite file type or whether from an app or a browser. I have to unplug the printer and plug the printer to print the next document. According to the HP website and HP smart tool, my drivers are up to date.

Hi @GAA429,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY Pro 6455 printer's behavior suggests there may be a software or firmware issue, a corrupted print queue, or communication problems between the printer and your system. Here's a step-by-step troubleshooting guide:
1. Check for Firmware Updates
- Open the HP Smart app on your computer.
- Navigate to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings.
- Check for a Firmware Update and install it if available.
2. Reset the Print Spooler Service
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
- Locate the Print Spooler service in the list.
- Right-click on Print Spooler and choose Stop.
- Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files in this folder.
- Return to the Services window, right-click Print Spooler, and select Start.
3. Reinstall the Printer
- Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click the printer and select Remove Device.
- Download the latest drivers directly from the HP website.
- Reinstall the printer using the driver package.
4. Test in a Clean Boot Environment
- Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
- Go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, and click Disable All.
- Restart your computer and test the printer.
- If the issue resolves, one of the disabled services is causing the problem. Re-enable them one by one to identify the culprit.
5. Connect the Printer with a USB Cable
- To rule out WiFi communication issues, connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable.
- Test printing to see if the issue persists.
6. Factory Reset the Printer
- On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
- Reconnect the printer to your network and computer.
7. Check Event Logs
- Open Event Viewer (Win + R, type eventvwr, press Enter).
- Look under Windows Logs > Application for any errors related to the HP printer or printing process.
- Share the log details for further analysis if needed.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
