My HP model 6962 printer will not print black ink. I installed a LxTek cartridge and HP would not accept it. So i got new HP cartridges and the black will not work. It stated it would not accept the code, how do i reset this printer?

If your HP 6962 printer is not printing black ink and is giving you an error regarding the cartridge code, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially reset the printer:

1. Remove and Reinstall Cartridges

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the printer cover and carefully remove the black ink cartridge.
  • Check for any protective tape or packaging that might not have been removed.
  • Reinsert the cartridge firmly and ensure it clicks into place.
  • Close the printer cover.

2. Reset the Printer

Power Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Hard Reset:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • While the printer is still powered on, disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and then to the printer.

3. Update Printer Firmware

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. You can do this via the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP website.

4. Run a Print Head Cleaning

  • Access the printer maintenance options from the control panel or HP Smart app.
  • Select the option to clean the print heads, which can help clear any clogs that may be preventing black ink from printing.

5. Check for Printer Errors

  • If the printer is displaying any error messages, note them down. Sometimes specific codes can provide more context on the issue.

6. Check the Cartridge Compatibility

  • Make sure the HP cartridges you installed are compatible with your HP 6962 printer. Double-check the model number and ensure they are genuine HP cartridges.

7. Print a Test Page

  • After reinstalling the cartridges and resetting the printer, try printing a test page to see if the issue persists.
