I had to do a full reinstall of windows 10 but now when I install the software for the printer the PC says no printer installed, I have tried downloading the sofware and using the installation disk but keep getting the same message when trying to print "no printer installed".
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP OfficeJet 3831 Printer. I understand that you are no printer installed error message and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.
Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,
If you have connected the printer wirelessly follow the below steps to fix this issue.
Reconnect the printer again.
Use the printer's built-in Wireless Setup Wizard to set up your printer on your wireless network.
-
Turn on the printer if it is not already on.
-
On the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon
.The Wireless screen displays.
-
Touch the Settings icon
. -
Touch Wireless Setup Wizard, then follow the instructions on the control panel to connect the printer to your wireless network.
Download and install the printer software.
-
Turn on the printer.
-
If your printer is connected to the computer with a USB cable, disconnect the cable from the printer.
-
If prompted, select a method to identify your printer model, and then follow the on-screen instructions to go to the download page.
-
Click Download next to the full feature driver (recommended), or click Basic Drivers for other driver options.
Click here and refer the document to perform the above steps.
Let me know how it goes.
Cheers.
