My printer used to flip the paper automatically on 2 sided copying, now I have to manually put the paper back in the tray and hit a continue button to proceed, what do I need to do to get it to automatically print on both sides

Welcome to the HP Support Community

Was any recent printer or driver update done on the printer?

Copy on both sides of a page using the 2-Sided Copying feature on the printer control panel.

NOTE:

Two-sided copying is available with most HP printers that have touchscreens or menu displays. For printers with button-only control panels, copy the first side, reload the page into the main paper tray (do a test copy to confirm which edge of the page goes in first and which side faces up), and then copy the second side.

  1. Locate the 2-Sided Copying menu or setting under Copy or Copy > Settings.

  2. Depending on the printer model, do the following to enable the feature. The printer prompts you when to flip pages, if necessary.

    • Touch On or select the box next to the setting name.

    • Touch the menu to display a list of two-sided copying options. You might need to scroll down the display screen to see all copy job options. Use the 2 - 2 Sided option to copy a two-sided original or use 1 - 2 Sided to copy two one-sided originals to make one two-sided copy.

    NOTE:

Using the ADF for two-sided originals: The ADF on many HP printers automatically scans and copies two-sided originals. If your printer does not support this feature, use the flatbed scanner glass to scan two-sided originals. The ADF can still be used for loading multiple one-sided copies.

To change the print setting use this document: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-officejet-4650-all-in-one-printer-series/5447930/model/77816... for Print Driver Settings Guide

To preserve duplex or one-sided settings for future print jobs, click the Printing Shortcut tab in the print settings window, and then select one of the document-related shortcuts. Change the duplex setting, select User Specified Print Settings, and then click Save As.

I suggest you do a Hard Reset on the printer

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
