Hi @Donoffice9018e,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018e is stuck on "Validating" after installing new ink cartridges, here are several steps you can take to try and resolve the issue.

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure that the new ink cartridges are correctly installed and properly seated. Sometimes, cartridges can appear to be installed correctly but aren't fully clicked into place.
  • Remove the ink cartridges, inspect them for any protective tape that may not have been removed, and reinstall them carefully.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and power it on.
  • Sometimes, this simple reset can clear the "Validating" status.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates via the HP Smart app or the printer’s web interface.

Check for Error Messages:

  • Look at the printer’s display panel for any specific error messages, such as an issue with the cartridges or a connection issue.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • With the printer powered on, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to perform a hard reset.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Carefully remove the ink cartridges.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently clean the gold-colored electrical contacts on both the ink cartridges and the printer.

Reinstall the Cartridges:

  • After cleaning, reinstall the cartridges and restart the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
