I'd appreciate any help because I've tried so many different methods to fix this at this point. I've tried two different computers, printing from adobe acrobat, from hp smart, from browser, and from another program. There is no color option in paper/quality or advanced settings when going into preferences. It's only in some printer dialogs where it will even give me the option and when I select it, it doesn't save anyway. I've factory reset the printer, removed all drivers and reinstalled, tried installing just the basic drivers, done all firmware updates, tried multiple instant ink color cartridges, there is nothing working. When I print test sheets, it prints in color but if I try and print from my computer or laptop no files will print in color.

You need to make sure the printer is being detected as a color device. On your computer go to control panel. Right click on devices and printers and select open from the drop down menu. Then right click on the icon for your printer and select printer properties from the drop down menu. Click on the device settings tab and scroll through options until you see device type and change from auto to color.
