All of my wireless devices, my computer and my phone both keep getting a printer out of paper error, even though there is paper ready.
The software has been updated on the printer. It has the latest version and I have rebooted it multiple times and followed suggestions online and nothing is working. Please help.

Hi @mayzie,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It can be frustrating when you encounter issues with your printer, especially if you've already tried common troubleshooting steps. Here are some additional steps you can take to address the "out of paper" error on your HP ENVY Photo 7858 All-In-One Printer.
-
Check Paper Tray:
- Make sure the paper is loaded correctly in the paper tray.
- Adjust the paper guides to ensure they are snug against the paper stack.
-
Paper Quality:
- Ensure that you are using the correct type and size of paper as specified in the printer manual.
- Try using a different batch of paper to rule out any issues with the paper itself.
-
Paper Sensor:
- Check for any debris or foreign objects around the paper sensor.
- Gently clean the paper sensor with a lint-free cloth.
-
Reset Printer:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 1-2 minutes.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on. Check if the issue persists.
-
Printer Firmware Update:
- Ensure that your printer firmware is up to date. Visit the HP support website to check for and install the latest firmware update for your printer.
-
Driver Update:
- Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. You can download the latest drivers from the HP official website.
-
Wireless Connection:
- Check the wireless connection between your devices and the printer. Ensure that they are connected to the same network.
- Restart your wireless router to ensure a stable connection.
-
Printer Self-Test:
- Perform a self-test on the printer to check if it can correctly detect the paper. Refer to your printer manual for instructions on how to perform a self-test.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
