hi  i have desktop 2721   for the past several months its flashing resume button/light E1...  when i press it it just sends out a blank page ...occasionally saying incorrect size paper..ive double checked , plugs out, turned off   all the basics . been on and off to the stage i bought another  printer ..im just not good understanding tech.....ive goggled but still getting nowhere

The flashing resume button and the paper error icon on your HP DeskJet 2721 can be frustrating. Here are some steps to help resolve this issue.

 

Check Paper Size and Type

  1. Verify Paper Size: Ensure that the paper loaded matches the size selected in the printer settings.
  2. Check Paper Type: Make sure the paper type (plain, photo, etc.) is correctly selected in the print settings.

Paper Loading

  1. Remove and Reload Paper: Take out the paper from the tray, fan the stack to prevent sticking, and reload it.
  2. Adjust Paper Guides: Ensure the paper guides are snug against the paper without bending it.

Printer Reset

  1. Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Printer Settings

  1. Check Print Settings: On your computer, ensure the print settings (paper size and type) match the loaded paper.
  2. Align Printer: Use the printer’s control panel or the HP Smart app to align the printer.

Clean Paper Feed Rollers

  1. Turn Off Printer: Turn off and unplug the printer.
  2. Access Rollers: Open the paper tray and locate the paper feed rollers.
  3. Clean Rollers: Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the rollers. Allow them to dry completely before reassembling and turning on the printer.

Check for Firmware Updates

  1. HP Smart App: Use the HP Smart app to check for and install any firmware updates for your printer.

Additional Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Reset Printer: Perform a factory reset. This can usually be done through the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app.
  2. HP Print and Scan Doctor: Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any issues.
