Hi
I am an architect using autocad lt 2020 for macs with an HP7612 A3 printer. I recently had to start using adobe acrobat reader to create pdfs due to an issue with either apple, HP or autocad (of course they all blamed each other!) and now whenever I try to print pdfs at A3 set up in CAD and converted to pdf using acrobat they print approximately 4-5% too large. I have spent hours experimenting with different settings but with no luck. I can successfully print approximately to scale at around 96% but this is a very poor work around and makes me anxious when I'm producing drawings for use on site.
Has anyone had a similar experience and any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks

The following is a complete guess - I don't use MacOS and I don't have your printer...
Simply ignore all of it if it is not useful. Smiling.
OK...
Adobe Reader might not be the best tool for the job.
The software tends to add tiny margins around the content - it is not "borderless" in other words.
The data might be other than "Actual Size" when printed, even when you choose Actual Size / 100%.
Whether this is true depends on the exact shape and size of your data (at 100%) as compared to the shape and size of the paper you are using.
What else?
What if?
The printer Specs do seem to indicate that A3 paper can be printed "borderless"

Next,
The printer is older (circa 2014) and it perhaps doesn't "do everything" as easily as newer tech.
That said, the Mobile device compatibility document indicates that HP Smart Mobile is supported.
This might indicate that HP Smart for MacOS would also be supported.
If that is the case, then you might be able to use HP Smart.
If you need borderless:
The first trick is to export that data into an image / .jpg format, I think.
Next, borderless printing MIGHT have paper type issues - that is borderless printing is frequently restricted to particular paper types (for example, Photo paper OR Brochure paper).
Next, you need to be able to select the paper size, too.
Lots of "guessing here".
Might be worth a look.
I am sorry I cannot provide a definitive description of what I am suggesting.
NOTE: If the drawing is not the same shape as the shape of the paper when printing at 100%, the results won't be 100% accurate. This is the Aspect Ratio of the image / content (shape and size of the data) as compared to the shape and size of the paper.
Side Bar:
HP Smart for Windows and MacOS is much "smarter" than the mobile version - the mobile version MIGHT work but it does have some odd limitations as compared to the "full" PC / Mac versions of the application.

Thank you very much for your detailed response. Plenty to think about and I think you might be right about adobe reader although it is ironic that i had to switch to it in order to print pdfs with colour due to a separate problem!
As you suggest may be easiest to print full size jpegs. I'll experiment tomorrow, thanks again for your time and thoughts.

Hi again
I tried using HP smart as suggested and the good news is that it printed perfectly to scale. Unfortunately any areas on the pdf that had been coloured came up as black on the print. I experimented with some different settings but they all printed with the same black areas. I have attached a scan of the print and also the original pdf. Any thoughts on how to resolve this?

You are welcome.
Main problem solved, then.
I have limited experience in this area (home design / output drawing types).
I don't use the same Design software, either, and that certainly makes a difference.
What to do?
If the original drawing is black / white then the output likely reflects the amount of color interpreted in the cabinet door fronts.
Top, Left section, showing the front view elevation
These appear to be closets / cabinets.
You might, for example, be able to edit the drawing parameters for the cabinet doors to remove / change the contrast / color of the door area. The "defaults" for how doors / drawers are displayed might be changed from a "color" to a different fill type. Change the actual door / drawer "fill" from a solid color to a clear or perhaps "light speckled" type of fill ( you might need to experiment with the fill density). I don't know if you can change the weight / type of dashed lines that indicate the door opening direction - this is less important than "clearing" the view area.
I cannot explain why the print software is darkening the doors / drawers to the extent that it shows - I would guess that the interpretation is not exact and the "darker gray" is a poor interpretation of the lighter scheme used in the original drawing.
