Last week my printer carriage stuck on the left hand side of the printer due to a "paper jam", although there was no paper jammed inside the printer.  I followed instructions found on this website to unplug & manually move the carriage.

Well that worked, and the printer printed again...except now I am unable to adjust the print quality--I have selected Fast Draft in properties for each document I've tried to print and it is printing on Fast Normal or Normal, can't tell which, but it's using more ink than for Fast Draft and taking longer to print.

Also, the other issue is the alignment is off--the documents are being printed crooked--the top left margin is shorter than the right top.

I would appreciate any ideas on how to get this printer working correctly again.  I know it's old, but it's always worked so well 'till now.  Thank you in advance.

Hi @noval562

I would suggest first powering off the printer, unplugging it for about 5 minutes and restarting it.

Then I would recommend using this link with instructions on using HP Toolbox to calibrate, align and clean the printer and cartridges: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bpy20846

Hope this helps

Thank you, MrsMc! I had disconnected the printer for a short time before your suggestion, but this time I unplugged for about 30 minutes; I do believe it worked! I just printed something and it came out with correct margins!  As for using the HP Toolbox, it is no longer available for this model of printer.

Once again, THANK YOU!
