There is an archived thread for ink system error 0xc05d0281 at https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printers-Archive-Read-Only/0xc05d0281-error/td-p/615959

I am trying to follow the directions to open the top of the printer, see the 2 inch long black thing with a slot in it next to a white gear and be sure the white tab on the gear  is in the slot.  The problem is I dont see a tab, or a broken off tab, or any indication that there was a tab.

 

I tried fiddling with the black thing and resetting the printer, with no success.  Now the black thing is immovable.

 

Any clues?  Thanks.

I see that you are getting ink system error with your HP Photosmart 3210 printer and also the printhead is not removable.

 

This could be a hardware issue with the unit and may need repair. 

 

I suggest that you contact HP Service Center in your location from this weblink: https://support.hp.com/us-en/help/service-center 
Note: Select your country from the dropdown,  enter the city or postal code, select the product, change the radius, and click on search to locate the nearest HP Service center near your location.

Thanks for your suggestion.  I also believe it is a hardware error but HP service centers do not work on old printers.
