Hi @Rockhound61,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It seems you are experiencing an issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer where the power button becomes disabled when the LED display is extended. This problem may arise due to a mechanical or software glitch. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check for Obstructions:

  • Make sure there are no physical obstructions or loose connections around the LED display and the control panel. It might prevent the power button from functioning properly.

Perform a Restart:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the printer and wait for about 60 seconds. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer to see if the issue persists.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. You can download the latest firmware from the HP Driver and Software downloads page by searching for your printer model.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Navigate to the printer’s settings menu to ensure no features are inadvertently configured to disable the power button.

Reset your printer:

  • Perform a semi-full reset of the printer, which may resolve unusual issues. Consult the printer manual or contact HP support for instructions on performing a reset specific to your model.

I hope this helps.
