I'm using an HP Envy 5642 - and I love it. But now, a week before Christmas, it has let me down terribly. I have lots of things to print and I get this Print Filter Pipeline Host failure. It begins to print a document, then stops before it even gets halfway. I followed the instructions given to someone else with the same printer, as well as I could, but it didn't fix the problem. Then I noticed that he had a different operating system than mine. I'm running Windows XP 2002. PLEASE tell me how to circumvent this annoying problem - before I tear out my hair!

I closed all open apps, then clicked on the Start menu. I found Disc Cleaning on the Control Panel and clicked it, then I emptied the Downloaded program files, the Offline web pages, and the Recycle bin. Then I tried the printer again, to no avail. However, those instructions were given to someone using a different version of Windows, but the same printer.
My daughter suggested I re-install the printer's software, but I haven't done that.
