I have tried numerous times with HP Smart, and nothing works. My computer and printer are working, and the internet connection works, too.

Hi @IreneParker
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
If you're experiencing difficulties connecting your HP OfficeJet 5255 All-in-One Printer to your computer running Microsoft Windows 11, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Disconnect the USB Cable from the Computer
If you connected your printer using a USB cable before installing the software, follow these steps:
- Disconnect the USB cable from your computer.
2. Uninstall the Software
- On the Windows taskbar, click Start, then Settings, and Control Panel (or just Control Panel).
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs (or click Uninstall a program).
- Select HP OfficeJet 5255 software and then click Change/Remove. Follow the onscreen instructions.
3. Restart Your Computer
- Restart your computer once the uninstallation is complete.
4. Turn off the Printer
- Turn off the printer, wait one minute, and then restart it.
5. Reinstall the HP Software
- Insert the installation CD into your computer’s CD-ROM drive or download the software from the HP website at www.hp.com/support.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to install the software.
- Ensure you do not reconnect the USB cable until prompted by the software installation screen.
Troubleshooting within HP Smart:
Check Internet Connection:
- Ensure your internet connection is active and stable.
Printer and Computer:
- Verify that both your printer and computer are powered on and properly connected.
Additional Solutions:
Software Update:
- Ensure that your HP Smart and other HP drivers are up-to-date. You can check for updates on the HP website.
Check USB Connections:
- Verify that all USB cables are securely connected and test the cable on another USB port or a different computer.
