Printer display reads "There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn off and then on, if problem persists contact HP" Followed those directions but warning persists. One non HP cartridge was installed previously, but has been replaced with the correct HP ink cartridge now installed. Thank you for your help!

Check Ink Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure the new HP cartridge is correctly installed. Remove it and reseat it, making sure it clicks into place securely.

Inspect Cartridges:

  • Check for any protective tape or plastic that may not have been removed from the cartridge. Ensure the contacts are clean and free of any debris.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Error Codes:

  • If the display shows any specific error codes, note them down as they can provide more insight into the problem.

Clean the Printhead:

  • If your printer has a printhead cleaning option in the settings menu, run it. This can sometimes resolve issues related to ink delivery.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating can sometimes fix persistent issues.

Perform a Printer Self-Test:

  • Most HP printers have a self-test feature. This can help identify if the issue is with the printer or the ink system.
