Hi @caribean11

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

When your HP 4610 printer keeps displaying a message to remove and reinstall the cartridge, it can be due to several reasons, such as improper installation, dirty contacts, or cartridge compatibility issues. Here's how you can try to resolve the problem:

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.

Remove the Cartridges:

  • Open the cartridge access door and wait for the cartridge carriage to stop moving.
  • Gently remove the cartridges from their slots.

Inspect the Cartridges:

  • Check if the cartridges are the correct type for your HP 4610 printer.
  • Ensure the protective plastic tape is completely removed from the cartridges.

Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridges.
  • Ensure they are dry before reinstalling.

Clean the Printer's Cartridge Contacts:

  • With the same cloth, clean the contacts inside the printer where the cartridge connects.

Reinstall the Cartridges:

  • Reinsert the cartridges carefully, ensuring they are seated properly in their respective slots.
  • Close the cartridge access door.

Restart the Printer:

  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on. Wait for the printer to complete its startup routine and see if the message disappears.

Update Printer Firmware/Software:

  • Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. You can check for updates on the HP website or through the printer software installed on your computer.

Following these steps should help resolve the cartridge installation error message on your HP 4610 printer. Let me know how it goes.!
