I have a new Envy 6455e connected to WiFi. It is set up to go into sleep mode after 5 minutes of inactivity (the default). However, the printer continues to make noise periodically as if it is preparing to print something (which it isn't).
Isn't sleep mode supposed to be quiet?
This leaves me either to turn it off after it use or to return it.
Is there another option?

Printers will occasionally wake from sleep to perform maintenance.
It is possible other interruptions on the network might cause the printer to momentarily wake up. (That is a guess.)
The printer is best left to sleep as normal and allowed to wake when necessary for self-maintenance.
Yes, you can switch off the printer when it is not in use. Read the printer manual first for relevant information.
Yes, you have to option to return the product if it is within the return window - check with the store and return policy.
