Hi @Handsome1124,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M180nw is asking for a password and you don’t remember setting one, it’s likely that the printer’s administrator password was either set by someone else or defaulted to a password that’s been forgotten.
Here are some steps you can try:
Default Password: Many HP printers use default passwords for the admin settings. Try the following common defaults:
- Blank (just press Enter)
- admin (or admin as both username and password)
- 0000 or 1234
Reset to Factory Defaults: If you cannot remember the password, you might need to reset the printer to factory settings. Be aware this will erase all current settings and configurations. To reset your printer:
- Locate the Settings menu on the printer's control panel.
- Look for Restore Defaults or Factory Reset option.
Check Documentation: Review any documentation or setup guides that came with your printer, as they might contain information about default passwords or how to reset them.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
