the usb works. it installs the printer and even tells me its connected and ready. as i said the troubleshooter runs and it prints a text report from the printer. but as soon as i try to print anything else its says theres an connection issue or just an error with the printer. the HP tech told me the driver is being ejected- it wont install even though it says its installed and up  to date.

the microsoft tech told me he'd fixed it from his end and when he rebooted my laptop wouldnt get past the first screen. i  had to reinstall windows from another device.

i have literally tried everything i can think. it worked perfectly before microsoft updates. i rolled back the updates, restored to a point prior and all the same response.

If I understand correctly printing thru USB also does not work?

Have you tried the printer on another computer?

the printer works perfectly fine. i can print from it using other devices attached either by usb, or wirelessly.

it worked perfectly fine via my laptop until windows issued some major updates.  now i cant print from it using my laptop- via usb, wireless or any other source. i ran troubleshooters. i ran scan and print docter which told me everything was installed and ready. it allows me to print a test page from scan and print doctor. and says eerything is ready and good to go. when i attempt to print anything else, a document a picture..anything it tells me that there is an error and it is unable to connect to the printer. when i reinstall everything directly from HP site it tells me they are installed and ready. however when i check the drivers they wont update.

i uninstalled windows updates,  i deleted everything relating to the printer and software and did clean installations. nothing changes. the HP tech team tried from their end remotely and couldnt fix it.

Microsoft (who HP told me to contact because for some reason windows isnt allowing the drivers to install) did a system upgrade and told me to reboot after it everything would be  fixed- however, after he did that my computer crashed and it took me 2 hours to get past the blue screen error. i  basically installed windows again. and the issue with the printer is still present.  i've run diagnostics, scans and pretty much everything i can think of.

Have you checked the SMART of the drive?

Get yourself a copy of CrystalDiskInfo and run it.

i did it and it said there were no issues.  i'm not a technician so i only know limited amount about this kind of thing. anyway i had to reinstall windows because apparently there was a corruption. whn i ran sfc scan it wouldnt work.

needless to say after that i have now got my computer working properly again (hopefully) but the printer still wont work through it.  it wont let me install the drivers for it.  so i'm just going to accept defeat.

If you are still willing, can you try running this basic driver file from HP.

Post back with the results including any error msg.

ok, so i tried using the driver link you sent me. it installs to a point then i get an error code. i tried using usb first time then deleted everything and tried again with wireless. i checked the firewalls and checked the IP addresses for the wirelss. the printer is on and works as i tested it using my phone. its completely baffling
