printer cutting off top of page - I have tried unplugging and restarting, I even uninstalled/reinstalled. Printer still cutting off top of papers. Alignment has been done, printer head cleaning done, and margins are all good.

Hi @KVA4251,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
We understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer is consistently cutting off the top portion of printed documents, despite completing alignment, head cleaning, reinstalling the printer, and verifying margins. We appreciate the troubleshooting you’ve already performed, and here are a few advanced steps to try.
1. Ensure Page Size and Type Match in All Settings
A mismatch between the document settings and the printer's settings is a common cause.
On your computer:
- In the application you're printing from (e.g., Word, Adobe, browser):
- Go to File > Print > Page Setup
- Ensure Paper Size is set to the correct size (e.g., A4, Letter, Legal, etc.)
- Also, check the Margins (should not be “Custom” unless intended)
In the HP Print Driver Settings:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers
- Right-click on your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 > Printing Preferences
- Under the Paper/Quality and Layout tabs:
- Confirm the correct paper size and scaling
- Make sure “Fit to Page” or "Actual Size" is selected appropriately
2. Disable Borderless Printing (If Not Needed)
Borderless printing can lead to cropping if the application or file doesn't support it.
- In Printing Preferences, go to Paper/Quality or Advanced
- Ensure Borderless Printing is disabled unless explicitly required
3. Print a Configuration/Status Page
To confirm if the issue is printer-side or application-side:
- On the printer’s touchscreen:
- Go to Settings > Reports > Printer Status Report
- If the test page prints correctly, the issue is likely with application settings or drivers.
- If the test page also cuts off, the issue is likely hardware/firmware.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
